She is a black inky wine without the trickery of new oak. I know there are lot of weedy merlots out there and this has given the variety a bad reputation. However, this is a truly noble variety and when done right merlot should be big and masculine, but still remain soft and delicate. Our Merlot fits this mould, it is more black than red, with intense blood plum flavours and nuisances of cinnamon, cardamom and aniseed. The palate is huge with persisting velvety tannins; these tannins are the rest place for this intensely big bodied wine. It is a beast!
